Reconnect needed
The connection to your organisation has expired or been withdrawn, so we cannot reach it until you reconnect.
The message you saw
Reconnect needed — your Xero connection expired. Click Reconnect.
Why this happens
The connection is renewed each time it is used, but it dies after 60 days without use. If nobody ran a job for two months, it will have lapsed.
It also ends if someone removed the app under Connected apps in Xero, if the organisation was disconnected, or if the user who granted access lost their access to that organisation.
Nothing has been lost: we simply have no valid token to call the API with, so both reading and writing stop.
What to do
- On your organisations list, press Reconnect next to the organisation and sign in at Xero again.
- Choose the same organisation when Xero asks which one to allow.
- If a job was running when the connection lapsed, open the job and press Resume once you are reconnected.
- If the reconnect keeps failing, check in Xero under Settings → Connected apps that the app has not been blocked, and that your own user still has access to that organisation.
What happened to your document
No document was changed by the expiry. A job that was running stopped between documents and can be resumed once the connection is back.

- Skipped: the document is inside a locked period
The document date falls on or before a lock date.
- Skipped: the contact is archived
